We received this announcement with the request of spreading the word.
People potentially interested are invited to get in touch even after the deadline: is an independent platform for providing science stories to the European television and online media. Our stories are packaged as video news releases, the equivalent to a press release but in a video format and aimed for TV journalists. Our films are offered for free and they are being adapted by journalists across Europe, from Iceland to Cyprus and from Russia to Portugal.
The role of the candidate is to keep in contact with these journalists, who already use our services, and to make new contacts, who don’t yet know us. This is not a “sales job”, as we have nothing to sell, but could be considered more the role of a customer relations manager. The candidate pick ups the phone, writes emails and press releases and sometimes participates to fairs and conferences, to make sure that our users are aware of our films and services and consider them for the programmes.
The candidate will also monitor the news to be aware when other news in the media can be linked to our stories, and find ways to promote them accordingly.
The candidate will also analyse the usage of certain video news releases, collect broadcast examples from our users and write reports about the dissimination impact of individual films when requested.
The candidate should have had first job experience in journalism or public relations, preferably in the field of television and/or online media. Ideally, the candidate has already worked in a news environment or for a science programme, and has acquired an understanding for the terms “story”, “newsworthy” and “relevance to the viewer”.
He/she should have excellent skills in English, and be fluent in at least one of the following other languages (German, Polish, Russian, French, Spanish). The candidate should be available to (re-) locate to our office in Oldenburg/Germany.
Please send your CV and a letter of motivation to the following email address by March 1st. Only online applications are being considered.
