EUSJA is pleased to announce a new study trip to the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) on November 19-21, 2026. You can register your interest in attending below.
ISTA is an international research institute in natural and formal sciences and is located 20 km northwest of the Austrian capital of Vienna.
ISTA has over 80 research groups in the fields of mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, neuroscience, biology, earth sciences and astrophysics. It was established in 2006 by the Federal Government of Austria and the Government of Lower Austria.

- Register your interest in attending
- A member of any EUSJA member association is eligible to apply. We strongly encourage early-career journalists to apply.
- The deadline to register your interest is Friday 31 July 2026
- The EUSJA board will then evaluate all submissions and notify successful applicants by Friday 07 August
- Places are limited to 15 people maximum
- Although EUSJA cannot cover flights or trains to Vienna, we are organising hotels with a discounted rate
- We can offer small travel grants for EUSJA members coming from low-income countries

- November 19 (Evening): People arrive, possible informal visit to local museum
- November 20: Greetings and general introduction to ISTA, tour of ISTA labs and meeting researchers, complimentary lunch, tour of the VISTA science education centre, and informal dinner in Vienna
