Journalists from many of Montenegro’s main media, including daily newspapers Pobjeda and Dan, Radio Television of Montenegro (RTCG), and various online media portals and radio stations have decided to come together in a new national association.

Some of us met at international events such as Erice International School of Science Journalism, in Italy, or at 100xCIENCIA forum in Spain over the past few years. Another impetus for better collaboration was also the UNESCO-backed Balkan School of Science Journalism in Podgorica, Montenegro, 19-22 September.

Some of the same journalists – and many other ones – met again on 11 November 2016, at a workshop organised by the University of Montenegro. The workshop was also attended by the university’s PR staff, one researcher, and several student journalists.

The journalists agreed to set up the news association, voted in its constitution and representatives (the board), and decided to pursue membership in international bodies, such as EUSJA and WFSJ.

The association has a Facebook group for members, and a blog. More about the workshop here.

Good luck to the Balkans’ newest science journalists association!
